The Unit of Measurement Here Is the Episode
Seasons have nothing to do with it, and that is the first point to get straight, because a short drama is not counted in seasons. The definition on the record is narrow, describing vertical 9:16 series made up of episodes of one to two minutes, usually 20 to 100 episodes per story. For Western-made episodes, TheWrap reports a narrower band still, 60 to 100 seconds apiece. Everything therefore turns on whether you mean a single episode or the whole short drama story. One episode runs shorter than most pop songs. A full series can outlast a feature film, and the longest outlast two. Every total run time in this piece is mine rather than anyone else’s, a published episode count multiplied by that published episode-length range. Since no app I checked publishes a total run time, nobody can hand you one.
Episode Counts Range From 30 to 100
Episode length barely shifts between titles, but episode counts swing wildly. Over twelve series I was able to check against an official app page, the counts run from 30 at the low end to exactly 100 at the high end. GoodShort’s My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen sits lowest at 30, near the floor of the 20-to-100 definition. At 100, GoodShort’s The Dragon King’s Return is the long one, placed precisely on the ceiling. Between the two extremes, ReelShort lists The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband at 60, Not the Bride He Wanted at 57, Love on the Sidelines at 64, Fated to the Alpha at 70, True Luna at 61 including its trailer and Breaking the Ice at 70 including its trailer. Married at First Sight stands at 89 on its ReelShort movie page, and over on GoodShort, Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter shows 64, Three Strikes, Dad’s Out shows 65 and Kidnapped by the Mafia shows 86. Add the twelve together and you get 816 episodes, which is an average of 68 per series and a median of roughly 64. Most short series land in the sixties, and the extremes are exceptions, which is the real finding here.
Why Certain Counts Deserve an Asterisk
Episode counts are trickier than they look, and anyone quoting one ought to say which page it came from. The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband is listed at 60 on its own official page, while third-party listings for the same show say 49 and 120, neither of which belongs near a calculation. Married at First Sight repeats the same problem inside a single site, where the movie page reports 89 episodes and another page for the same series reports 90. That one-episode gap means nothing to a viewer and everything to anyone claiming precision. True Luna at 61 and Breaking the Ice at 70, two of the counts above, are explicitly flagged as including the trailer, so the story itself is one episode shorter in each case. I chose to keep the published figure rather than quietly subtract, because adjusting a number silently is how bad data spreads. A count is a label attached to one page on one date, not a permanent property of the show.
The Arithmetic, Spelled Out
The method is laid out below for you to redo or reject. One minute per episode sets the floor and two minutes per episode sets the ceiling, so the published count gives you a range. A 60-episode series therefore gives 60 to 120 minutes, or one to two hours. The 100-episode Dragon King’s Return works out at 100 to 200 minutes, so between one hour forty and three hours twenty. If a show was made in the West, the 60-to-100-second band from TheWrap narrows things: those same 100 episodes then work out to between 100 and 167 minutes. None of these numbers comes from ReelShort, GoodShort or anyone else, and none of them accounts for recaps, intros or the trailers a couple of the counts include. Built on two published numbers, they stay estimates, and I would sooner show the working than fake a precision the sources do not support.
Twelve Documented Series, Timed

The table below runs that multiplication on every title above. The episode counts come from each show’s own app page; the run times are mine. Each range is a floor and a ceiling rather than a prediction, because real episodes land somewhere inside it. The platform column matters less than people assume, because the format definition is the same on both.
| Series | App platform | Episodes | Estimated total run time (my calculation) |
|---|---|---|---|
| My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen | GoodShort | 30 | 30–60 min |
| Not the Bride He Wanted | ReelShort | 57 | 57–114 min |
| The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband | ReelShort | 60 | 60–120 min |
| True Luna | ReelShort | 61 including trailer | 61–122 min |
| Love on the Sidelines | ReelShort | 64 | 64 to 128 min |
| Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter | GoodShort | 64 | 64 to 128 min |
| Three Strikes, Dad’s Out | GoodShort | 65 | 65–130 min |
| Fated to the Alpha | ReelShort | 70 | 70–140 min |
| Breaking the Ice | ReelShort | 70 including the trailer | 70 to 140 min |
| Kidnapped by the Mafia | GoodShort | 86 | 86 to 172 min |
| Married at First Sight | ReelShort | 89 on the movie page | 89–178 min |
| The Dragon King’s Return | GoodShort | 100 | 100–200 min |
The last column makes two things obvious. Only one of the twelve could fill a single hour and stop, and only one could stretch past three hours. A two-hour film’s worth of story, delivered in sixty-odd pieces, is what everything else amounts to.
What a Binge Actually Takes
Run time alone is the easy part of the calculation, and the misleading one. A 60-episode short drama at 60 to 120 minutes fills a single evening, comfortably shorter than one long blockbuster. All twelve titles together come to 816 episodes, and the same multiplication turns that into roughly 14 to 27 hours, or two to four working days. What that total ignores is everything between the episodes. The free opening episodes do not last long, after which every unlock is a tap, a coin balance or a rewarded ad, with ReelShort’s own blog saying one ad unlocks two premium episodes. Twenty-five ads is what fifty paid episodes costs at that rate, and no company publishes how long those ads run, so I will not invent a number. People watching short dramas online at a steady pace usually find the real evening runs longer than the arithmetic says. If you would sooner buy your way past the interruptions, a weekly pass costs about $19.99 in the US App Store as of September 2026, though prices vary by country and platform and change.
How Two Minutes Bends the Writing
Length here is not just a stat, it is the script’s structure. When an episode runs 60 to 100 seconds, the writer has room for roughly one beat and one reversal, and that reversal has to land on the final shot. It is why a hook lands before you have settled and why cliffhangers feel relentless rather than occasional. Production works to the same clock, with TheWrap reporting $150,000 to $300,000 per series and shoots of eight to ten days. Nobody books leisurely scenes into a ten-day shoot that has to yield seventy of them. The paywall shapes the writing as well, since the first eight to ten episodes are usually free, and ReelShort’s blog gives five to fifteen, which puts the first real decision point about ten minutes in. A 64-episode show such as Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter therefore has to seed a betrayal, a reversal and a payoff inside about the run time of one film, cut into pieces that each have to earn the next tap.
Choosing a Series by Its Length
Once you can read the numbers, picking becomes practical rather than guesswork. If you want one sitting and a clean finish, look for counts in the thirties, which My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen demonstrates at 30 episodes. For something to last a week of commutes, the sixties are the sweet spot, and most short dramas sit there anyway. Counts near 100 mean more subplots, and a bill that grows in step. Before you start, look up the count on the show’s own page rather than a fan listing, since a gap between 49 and 120 for one title is exactly the error that ruins a plan. Do the multiplication yourself after that, since it takes five seconds and nobody else is doing it for you. Knowing how long a short series will really hold you comes down to exactly that.
